Kevin Jackson (born 1948) was a much loved and greatly respected acting coach and teacher, working in Sydney (1983 – 2022) and San Francisco (1989 – 2002). The many testimonials and memories shared by by colleagues, peers and former students in the Tributes section of this site, provide a moving and insightful testament to his special ability and insights as an artist, colleague and teacher.

Kevin was one of Australia’s most experienced acting teachers, having taught at the National Institute of Dramatic Art for 27 years. He was involved in the training of many of Australia’s leading actors including Nicholas Bishop, Cate Blanchett, Essie Davis, Eamon Farren, Baz Luhrmann, Jacqueline McKenzie, Miranda Otto, Richard Roxburgh, Sarah Snook and Sam Worthington.

In 2011, NIDA management under the directorship of CEO Lynne Williams, decided against renewing his teaching contract, offered him instead – a 12-month contract to assist the incoming new Head of Acting – an offer that Kevin declined.

For more than 14 years, Kevin also taught at the American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) in San Francisco, and more recently at The Hub Studio (Chippendale, NSW), The Sydney Acting School (Waterloo, NSW), and Sydney Acting Studio (Redfern, NSW).
